The Henderson International School experience impels students to explore their full potential as leaders. Our curriculum focuses first on developing core individual skills and attitudes such as craftsmanship, fitness, and self-awareness. Next, students expand their perspective as they learn the benefits of teamwork, service, and communication. Finally, students assume leadership roles inside the learning community while also embarking upon wilderness expeditions and international travel opportunities to complete their journey towards leadership when wisdom, love, and global awareness guide their decisions.
As leaders, students are expected to honor all school rules and policies; to respect teachers, staff, and fellow students; and to be honest and trustworthy in all school and community matters.
Beginning in the 5th grade and continuing through 12th, students spend a portion of the year engaged in:
- Creative problem solving in connection with school and community projects
- Systems-thinking approaches to complex problems
- Group facilitation skill building
- Investigation of political, social, and economic challenges faced by people in other parts of the community and/or globe
