Third Graders at The Henderson International School are
accustomed to working in a supportive academic environment where they can
thrive. As they continue to learn new information and to use that information
to develop their academic and social skills, they are becoming more and more
independent. Students begin to rely less on their parents for help as they
begin to take responsibility for themselves under the helpful watch of their
Instructors.
As the Instructors continue in a rigorous course of instruction in Language
Arts and Math, they also begin to focus more sharply on Science and Social
Studies. The academic work is challenging, but increases incrementally so as to
scaffold success. The students are being prepared for greater and greater
responsibility as they continue on into the upper elementary years.
Our Third Grade curriculum continues The Henderson International School's
tradition of excellence, as students further achieve mastery in Math, Language,
Science and Social Studies. They begin learning and applying research skills,
they explore a variety of genres of literature, and they complete personal
Science projects using the scientific method. In addition, they are becoming
proficient writers, learning to write in a variety of contexts from reports to
poetry to creative fiction.
