Kindergarten 1st Grade Literacy Math CPAA Henderson International School Test Results

As many of you know, in Preschool – 1st grades we teach to CPAA standards, then shift to ERB standards for grades 2 – 8.  CPAA offers a formative assessment tool that we use with our youngest students six times per year that gives us helpful data on how our students measure up to their independent school peers in the areas of Literacy and Mathematics. The CPAA assessment was designed by Columbia University and MIT researchers and is a tool used primarily by private schools.  We use the data from it to write PLP goals, put students into small groups to meet various levels of need, and track individual growth throughout the year.

As this school year comes to a close, I’d like to share with you some of the wonderful CPAA data on our Kinder and 1st grade students, taken for the final time in early May.
