Meet Mrs. Benoualid, 3rd grade

July 28, 2017

"Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid." ~ Albert Einstein

You may be tempted to call her Mrs. B, but Mrs. Benoualid's name is pronounced Ben-WALL-eed. (it's actually quite easy!)

Christie Benoualid is a familiar face around campus, and this year she joins us as a 3rd grade teacher alongside Mrs. Mercado. Mrs. Benoualid was a guest teacher at HIS last year, and she is really excited to have her own class again.

Mrs. Benoualid holds a Bachelor's degree from Mayville State University and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UNLV.  She has been teaching for eight years, and says school should be a place where students and teachers truly enjoy going every day.

"Being a teacher allows me to be creative and really get to know children other than my own.  I find kids fascinating. It's fun to try to figure out what motivates them," she said.

Anyone who knows Mrs. Benoualid knows she is pretty crafty. She likes to bring creative challenges into her lessons, watch kids compete with craft ideas, and feel a sense of pride in what they produce.

She loves to read, paint, craft, and check out Pinterest. She can draw almost any cartoon just by looking at it, and has a unique talent of being able to read upside down. You may also see her running through Anthem Country Club. She has completed four marathons, and is handy with a tennis racket too.
