Meet Mrs. Wise, middle school math

"Two roads diverge in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." ~ Robert Frost

I mean, really, can you think of a better name for a teacher than Mrs. Wise?

Shira Wise brings plenty of wisdom to our middle school math department, where she'll teach fifth and sixth grade math, as well as the Findlay Prep student athletes.

Mrs. Wise has been teaching for 20 years, and like many of her HIS colleagues, she has a passion for travel. She has been to four continents and studied in Japan on a Fulbright Scholarship.

"For me, University was an amazing adventure away from home; a time to discover who I was and what my values were. If I could, I would spend my life in this pursuit - reading and studying all things interesting at the moment," she said.

Mrs. Wise focuses on empowering students, and their parents, to dream larger than they normally would. She says her students need to feel capable, and that allows them to think big and lead fulfilling lives. Parents play a huge role in creating this mindset.

"CAN'T is the worst four-letter word," she said.

"I want parents to understand that despite our need to work, provide for our families, and manage hectic schedules, that we are all pivotal in this process. As a team we can accomplish anything!" she said.

Mrs. Wise has three children who will attend HIS this year, Keziah, Jezreel and Joshua. We're looking forward to welcoming the entire Wise family to HIS.
