In our Middle School in Henderson, students aged 11 to 14 take charge of their academic, social, and personal growth. They actively explore new ideas, develop independence, and build critical thinking skills.

By engaging deeply with a Cognia-accredited curriculum, learners connect classroom learning to real-world experiences, discover their passions, and confidently advocate for themselves as learners.

Our curriculum

Through our Cognia-accredited curriculum based on Honor and Standard Prep classes, students aim higher than expectations and balance rigorous academics with social and emotional development.

Language Arts

Building confidence through reading, writing, and speaking

Grade 6 students focus on expository writing, editing, journalism, and a diverse range of reading materials, including both modern and ancient literature. They develop research and essay writing abilities and practice public speaking.

By Grade 7 - 8, the curriculum advances to include argumentative and analytical writing, exploration of world novels and poetry, and deeper study of literary elements. Students engage with both assigned and self-selected texts, period fiction and non-fiction, and further develop their public speaking skills through monologues and speeches.

Developing problem-solving and logical thinking

At our international school in Henderson, students build strong problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning as they progress through a comprehensive curriculum covering number relationships, number systems, geometry, measurement, statistics, probability, math communication, and quantitative reasoning.

High performing learners access an accelerated program that goes all the way to algebra and geometry, having the opportunity to demonstrate achievement at high school level, and earn credits.

Expressing creativity through artistic exploration

Students choose one of the following as their Arts program for the year:

  • Visual Art: they experiment with 2D and 3D techniques, ceramics, and digital media, building creative confidence and technical skill while exploring art history
  • Performance Arts: they develop acting, singing, and stagecraft through the production of annual musicals, progressing from rehearsal to live performance and gaining teamwork and self-expression
  • Music Exploration: members learn to play instruments, read music, and perform as an ensemble, building discipline and a lifelong appreciation for music
  • Digital Art: they create bold digital masterpieces, mastering new tools and techniques to express their vision
  • Music Technology:  they innovate with sound and technology, composing, recording, and producing music.

Physical Education

Promoting health, movement and teamwork

Learners actively participate in physical education classes designed to promote fitness, skill development, and teamwork. Each year begins with baseline fitness tests, allowing students and teachers to track progress and celebrate growth throughout the school year.

Students learn the fundamentals and rules of a variety of sports, including football, basketball, floorball, soccer, swimming, and volleyball.

Expanding communication through language learning

Students immerse themselves in a progressive Spanish program that includes classes five days a week. This enhanced immersion allows learners to access high school-level topics and get credits.

Through collaborative storytelling, novel studies, grammar instruction, and class discussions, they interact with high-frequency language in meaningful, culturally relevant contexts. This engaging approach empowers students to develop expressive skills for writing and conversation.

Learners gain a comprehensive understanding of both US and world history and geography.

In Grades 6 through 8, students explore United States history from pre-colonization through the late 20th century, alongside studies of ancient civilizations such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, India, Greece, and Rome. They also examine significant developments in world history across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas.
